During the month of November activity at COMTEX focused on
several exterior areas including the parking lots, curbs,
landscaping, seeding, and sodding of the grounds. Also, at
this point in the project much energy begins to shift to the
provision of infra-structure services for equipment. Set out
below are some of the key areas completed during the month:
- Completion of the domestic water, heating, and HVAC systems
in the office.
- Switch-over to permanent heating within the building.
- Completion of ceiling tiles, fire alarm systems, and
lights within the office.
- Commencement of installation of flooring and carpeting
in the office.
- Near completion of painting within the plant and the
office.
- Completion of the security camera and paging system installation.
- Life safety and temporary occupancy permission is being
sought for the office area on Friday, December 5, 2003.
The pictures below set out construction activity at the COMTEX
site on October 24, 2003.
Equipment

At the end of the month of November, COMTEX will have received
a total of 600 Ebco carts. The soiled sort system, including
the storage rails and paring loop, has also been installed.
Within the boiler room, feed lines for water, steam, gas,
drain, and air are being completed for the boilers, water
heaters, high pressure pumps, compressors, air dryers, and
heat reclamation.
During the month, the two continuous batch washers (CBWs)
have been received and set in place along with their corresponding
hydraulic presses, shuttles, elevators, and twelve dryers.
Set out below are some of the key elements underway during
the month:
- The wash chemical storage and delivery system installation
has been completed from the point of external fill lines
to individual pieces of equipment.
- The Jensen monorail track for the soiled side of the
laundry has been installed complete with conveyors, elevators,
and sort bins.
- Delivery of the complete clean side of the laundry including
the ironers, feeders, folders, stackers, and conveyors is
anticipated for December 3, 2003.
Budgeting & Finance

The Fiscal Year 2005 operating budget was presented to the
Board at the November 19th Board meeting. Final Board approval
of the budget will be sought at the December 17th Board meeting.
Rush Transportation has won the bid for providing transportation
service for the delivery of linen. The attorneys are reviewing
the contract for final signing the week of December 8th.
Great Plains accounting software has been selected as the
complete accounting package for COMTEX. Installation begins
December 16th. Initial focus will be on the accounts receivable
and accounts payable modules.
CBIZ payroll has been selected as the payroll processor for
COMTEX. The first pay period for COMTEX will begin December
14th and be paid on January 2nd.
Mettler Toledo is ready to install the scales and Galaxy
Technology will implement the hand readers for timekeeping
on December 11th. Both of these are key interface components
for the efficient operations of COMTEX.
The final tranche from the bond issuance was received on
December 1st.
Staffing

Of approximately 70 current laundry staff that were offered
positions 54 are currently coming to COMTEX. On December 4th
interviews were held at the West Community Opportunity Center.
Approximately 90 people participated in the screening, information,
and interview sessions.
Brad Hesler began working with COMTEX on December 1st in
the role of Financial and Systems Analyst. Brad will play
a key role in the installation and integration of the various
systems being put in place in the month of December.
